From a call for volunteers to new planning applications, here’s a round up of things happening on the Fylde coast.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are urgently needed to man poppy stands in Cleveleys.

RBL Poppy Appeal organiser Belinda Armstrong said: "We urgently need volunteers.

"I've been asked to cover Cleveleys on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Morrisons, this week and next.

"Hopefully will get more poppies out, if I can get volunteers. Please help."

Single storey extension plan

Proposals for a single storey rear extension at a house at 1 The Bramblings in Poulton, following demolition of an existing conservatory, have been approved by Wyre planners.

A delegated report from the planning officer stated: "The design, scale and use of materials for the proposal is considered to be visually acceptable.

"The proposed extension would be single storey and there are adequate separation distances and existing screening between the adjacent dwellings so do not result in an issues of overbearing impact, overlooking or loss of privacy.

"The proposal would not therefore result in an adverse impact on neighbouring amenity."

Remembrance Day service

Each year, volunteers gather to continue a simple but powerful tradition - placing remembrance crosses on the graves of those who served and sacrificed their lives in war and conflict.

Wyre Council invites people to join at Fleetwood Cemetery at 10am on Sunday November 1 as it takes place once again.

A council spokesperson said: "Thanks to The Royal British Legion, Mr Martin Poole and the dedicated volunteers who help ensure every grave is marked with a cross in remembrance.

Crosses will also be placed at cemeteries in Poulton, Moorland Road and Preesall. The updated War Graves Booklet, which provides information about and the locations of war graves within Wyre's cemeteries, is available from the Cemeteries Office. Donations are gratefully received and will help fund restoration works. Contact our team to get your copy: [email protected]
