That was the lesson learned by Ava Makepeace who has been appointed by Lakeview Residential Care Homes as sales and customer relationship manager.

She said: “When I was approached to take on the role I was rather nervous about my lack of knowledge, but director Pete Wood assured me that the business is about care and values, offering skills which must be learned through experience.

“He assured me that I would be bringing fresh eyes to observe the surroundings and running of the homes and would help Lakeview to extend its care and support beyond residents and their families.

“It was with these fresh eyes that I realised that we could do more to achieve this core principle and I quickly learned many families required guidance through the whole care process. It can be very difficult for families, particularly in times of stress, to get beyond the barrage of conflicting information”

Pete Wood said: “Our focus has always been, after the care of our residents, to offer help and support.”
