FRACKING LATEST: Fracking meeting adjourned

A meeting to decide the fate of fracking in rural Fylde has been adjourned for at least eight weeks.

Lancashire County Council’s development control committee met at County Hall to discuss controversial plans for two proposed shale gas sites at Roseacre and Little Plumpton in rural Fylde.

County Hall’s planning officers last week recommended refusing permission for two bids by Cuadrilla Resources to drill and test for shale gas on farm fields in the rural Fylde hamlets.

They cited noise issues at both sites and potential traffic problems at Roseacre as reasons for their recommendations.

Cuadrilla asked for today’s hearing to be deferred after submitting revised measures to deal with excess noise and traffic.

Councillors discussed the request for a deferral in private and decided they had no choice but to adjourn the hearing for at least eight weeks to allow Cuadrilla’s new proposals to be considered.
