Fly-tippers dump rubbish near Lytham recycling centre

A large amount of rubbish has been dumped by fly-tippers less than half a mile from Lytham's waste recycling centre.

The two large rubbish piles have appeared on Peg’s Lane, near Moss Side on Sunday.

Items such as stuffed toys, domestic appliances, a pram and a TV have appeared in one pile on the country lane and a large amount of old roofing felt in another.

The rubbish has been dumped less than a minute’s drive from the rubbish tip in Lytham.

An enforcement officer from Fylde Council has been to inspect the rubbish piles and it is now awaiting removal.

A spokesman for the council said: “All fly tipping incidents are investigated by Council officers to assess whether there is any evidence within the material dumped.

“If evidence is found this is followed up immediately as part of an investigation process.

“An officer has visited today to do this.

“Once officers have been through the material it is then referred to the operational services department for removal.”

The council say they aim to any wastes that has been dumped on public land within seven days of it being reported.
