Fleetwood Coastguard sent to help distressed man near old Stena Line ferry terminal

Emergency services were alerted to reports of a man threatening self harm near a Fleetwood ferry terminal on Wednesday evening.

Fleetwood Coastguard were paged at around 8.30pm following a request from Lancashire Police who had reports of a person possibly ‘threatening self harm’ close to the disused former Stena Line ‘RO-RO’ ferry terminal at Fleetwood Port.

As coastguard officers arrived at the incident, officers from Fleetwood Police had already found the man and the team was stood down.

A spokesman for HM Coastguard Fleetwood said: “We were tasked to reports of a male threatening self harm near to the old RO/RO ferry terminal in Fleetwood.

“As officers arrived on scene, Fleetwood Area Police had concluded the incident and the team was stood down.

“If you see somebody in distress on the coast call 9️9️9️ and ask for HM Coastguard.”

The former Stena Line ‘roll on/roll off’ terminal was closed by the ferry company in December 2010.
