Five people rescued after fire breaks out in flat on Blackpool Promenade

Emergency services rushed to reports a fire had broken out inside a domestic property on the Promenade today (February 26).

Four fire engines from Blackpool, Bispham, South Shore and Fleetwood attended the scene, reportedly near Happy Jack's, at around 3.20pm.

On arrival, it was discovered the fire was confined to a flat within a multi-storey building.

Firefighters equipped with four breathing apparatus used two hose reels to douse the flames.

Five people were rescued from the property and were given precautionary checks by ambulance crews, the fire service said.

Crews were in attendance for approximately five hours.

North West Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
