Facebook '˜emoji' message breach

Terry Murray had been bailed by police only one day before on the condition he did not contact her.

Murray, a 37-year-old father-of-two, of Grasmere Road, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to breaching bail.

He was rebailed by Blackpool magistrates who bailed him on the condition he had no direct or indirect contact with his ex, except through a solicitor over child access.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Murray had sent a thumbs-up Facebook emoji from his computer to his ex’s on January 9 about 11.30pm.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, told magistrates: “My client says it was inadvertent. He had been messaging a couple of people including his sister. It was only a thumbs-up sign.”
