Kepplegate Care Services, based at Kepplegate House on Sandy Lane, Preesall, received an excellent report following an unannounced visit by a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspector.

The inspectors’ visits are part of new tighter codes of practice by the CQC.

Kepplegate was given a “Good” in all five areas of inspection, maintaining that the service is ‘safe, effective, caring, responsive and well‐led’.

There were two parts of the company to be inspected as Kepplegate runs a domiciliary service, providing care for elderly people in their own homes, from its 16‐bed residential home.

Owner/registered Manager, Karen Shaw, said: “We were a bit apprehensive because we’d read in the papers about other care homes and services not attaining the required standards under the new rigorous inspection regime, so we were delighted to be given the overall “Good” and a “Good” in each of the categories.

“Hot on the tail of the CQC inspector was the Environmental Health inspector – again an unannounced visit – and we were delighted to be awarded a 5 Stars grade.

“We obviously wanted to retain our 5 Stars rating”, added Karen, “but especially so as our hot meal delivery service is run from here at Kepplegate.

“I’m just happy that the hard work of the staff is paying off.

“We do think that we provide an excellent service, but it’s nice to have that opinion verified by regulatory independent inspectors.”

The CQC inspector said in the report: “People told us they were happy with the care and support they received from Kepplegate House Limited. People told us staff were caring and were knowledgeable of their individual needs.”
