'Every boy and young man in Blackpool deserves the support and opportunities to thrive'
“I’m keen to listen, learn and support the people working to give our young people the best possible start in life”
Blackpool South MP Chris Webb is backing an event in the resort later this month promoting the fact that every boy and young man in Blackpool deserves the support and opportunities to thrive.
The What About the Boys? conference at the Village Hotel, East Park Drive on November 19 will explore how local communities can better support boys and young men.
It is coordinated by the Blackpool-based United Youth Alliance in partnership with colleagues from the Coastal Youth Alliance Partnership.

Now in its eighth year, the conference brings people together to discuss the challenges facing boys and young men, challenge assumptions and share ideas that can make a real difference to their lives.
Since its launch seven years ago, the conference has provided an important platform to listen to the voices of boys and young men, challenge assumptions and encourage meaningful discussion around the issues affecting their lives.
Discussion will focus on the practical realities of co-design, youth voice and cross-sector collaboration, highlighting how organisations can move beyond consultation and effectively work in genuine partnership with young people.

A key milestone of the event will be the launch of the Fylde Coast Boys Impact Hub, a new initiative that will begin as a test-and-learn pilot in Wyre, co-designed with young men themselves.
Mr Webb said: “As Blackpool South’s MP, I’m keen to listen, learn and support the people working to give our young people the best possible start in life.”
