Crews from Blackpool were called out to the Imperial Hotel on the Promenade at around 1.15 am on April 13 after a member of staff noticed a "smell of burning."

Firefighters say that guests and staff were promptly evacuated from the building by a very efficient management team.

Watch Manager Andrew Jones said: "We were called out to a smell of burning at this hotel and investigated the cause.

"We used thermal imaging cameras to examine the wiring but this was all fine - a fuse had tripped but we could not find any obvious cause for the smell.

"The hotel has called out an electrician to check for any issues. We checked the building very thoroughly.

"We found the management team were very effective and took swift action to protect their guests."

Crews spent around three quarters-of-an hour at the site to ensure there was no risk.
