The application is seeking permission to use land adjacent to 433 Midgeland Road for the keeping of horses and as a residential site for two traveller families.

Each family would have a static caravan and a touring caravan on the land which is already occupied by stables.

Two ancillary amenity buildings would also be built.

A design statement accompanying the application says: "This site is not prominently or obtrusively located in relation to public vantage points, and would be adequately assimilated into its semi-rural surroundings without requiring any additional landscaping."

The scheme is the latest to come forward for travellers sites on the Moss, after applications for eight caravans on two sites on School Road were approved by the council last August.

It will be considered by town hall planners at a future date.
