Blackpool tip is increasing operations and here's what you need to know

Blackpool Council has announced an easing of restrictions to the operation of the Bristol Avenue Tip and Household Waste Recycling Centre.

From August 17 the centre will be open seven days a week, with the following operating hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – 10am to 4pm; Thursday – 10am to 7.30pm.

Residents will no longer be required to visit according to their postcode and can attend on any day.

However, only cars may attend at the weekend with no vans or trailers are permitted during this time.

Disposal of soil and inert waste will be permitted, however, some restrictions will remain in place are as follows:

The tip shop remains closed; disposal of paint, plasterboard or asbestos is not permitted; a reduced number of six parking bays are in operation; there will be traffic management in and around the site plus social distancing measures; no sign-written vehicles are allowed on site.

Vans and trailers must attend the tip no later than 30 minutes before the site closes, or they will be turned away.

Coun Jim Hobson, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for climate change and the environment, said: “I know many of our residents will welcome the further to changes how our waste and recycling centre operates.

“Our teams are doing their best to provide the support people need, all whilst ensuring things go as smoothly and safely as possible.

“As ever, we appreciate the patience shown by everyone. I would ask the public to familiarise themselves with the changes, as well as continuing to follow the restrictions that remain in place.”
