The piers have been listed on the New York-based 2018 World Monuments Watch to recognise the challenges they face from climate change.

The day included entertainment from swing band The Billionaires, live Punch and Judy shows and a traditional barrel organ.

Peter Sedgwick, who owns Blackpool’s three piers, said: “It was a fantastic day.

“We got good reports from everyone.

“Everyone loved the pier and the weather was red hot which always makes it all the better.

“Kids enjoyed free rides such as the helter-skelter and the carousel and were entertained with Punch and Judy shows and magicians.

“Some people were in fancy dress and there was a live band and an organist.

“The atmosphere was amazing and it was a great day all round.

“Everyone was over the moon.

“Now we are looking to do it next year and are going to build on it.”
