Elderly lady grabbed at in failed robbery

A would-be robber grabbed at and jostled an elderly woman.

Police are now appealing for information after the incident, which happened shortly before 3pm on Monday, July 28.

The 84-year-old victim was at the junction of St Albans Road and Clarendon Road when she was approached by a man who engaged her in conversation.

But as she carried on towards her home the man grabbed her and demanded money before putting his hand in her jacket pocket.

He then made off, believed to be empty handed.

He is described as white, aged in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 8in tall and was wearing a dark top and jacket.

Det Con Rachel Bibby of Blackpool CID said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area to get in touch.”
