Drivers facing motorway delays

Drivers on the M6 are facing delays this week as contractors block off the northbound section as part of 12 overnight closures.

Traffic will be diverted off the motorway at the Tickled Trout Hotel and through Preston to the Broughton roundabout as work to widen the pinch point between junctions 31 and 32 reaches a critical stage.

Highways Agency staff are advising motorists to follow the diversion signs, with queues likely even though the detour is at night.

There will also be two further closures which will take place on Wednesday and Thursday (March 11 and 12) from 9pm-6am.
