Driver hunted after hitting woman crossing road

A motorist hit a woman, took her home, and then drove off without giving his details, police said.

The woman, 33, suffered numerous minor injuries after being hit while crossing the road at the junction of Whitegate Drive and Hornby Road, a spokesman for Lancashire Police said.

Witnesses are now being sought as officers try and trace the driver.

No description of the motorist or car has so far been released.

A spokesman for Blackpool Police appealed for information on social media site Facebook and said the crash happened at around 10pm yesterday.

“A 33-year-old woman has suffered numerous injuries as a result of this collision and road policing officers are investigating this incident.

“Unfortunately we have no description of the vehicle but would appeal to anyone in the area at the time of this incident to contact us if they have any information.”

A spokesman this morning told The Gazette paramedics called police at 11.20pm.

She said: “The woman was crossing the road and there was a collision between the car and woman.

“The driver of the car has then taken the woman back to her address. Her injuries are classed as minor.”
