The workers at Home Instead Care, which has two sites in the area, were praised for their efforts as the company was awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise on the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The company has been granted the award, the UK’s highest accolade for business success, for the innovation their service has brought to the home care sector.

And Fylde MP Mark Menzies joined the Lytham branch of Home Instead Senior Care for its annual awards ceremony.

Home Instead provides support for older people to enjoy life at home.

Over the past year, the company has provided more than 40,000 hours of care to 140 clients in Fylde and Mr Menzies helped celebrate the contribution care givers have made to the lives of clients.

Speaking after the event, Mr Menzies said: “I was enormously impressed by the passion of Home Instead’s care givers for their work, and their commitment to helping people.

“It was wonderful to meet so many dedicated and caring individuals.”

Home Instead said it had made a significant commitment to dementia care over the past year, and is the only care provider accredited to provide City and Guilds ‘Alzheimer’s and other Dementias’ training.

Mr Menzies has long campaigned on issues surrounding dementia. He has previously outlined his ambition to have Fylde recognised as a Dementia Friendly Community and recently joined the local Dementia Research Group.

He praised Home Instead’s commitment to tackling the disease, adding: “I applaud the tremendous work done by Home Instead in providing care to dementia patients, especially with the opening of their new dementia information centre in Lytham which will be of real benefit to the whole community in understanding and tackling this disease.”

He added: “It has been a pleasure to recognise the special contribution Christine and the Home Instead team have made to lives of their clients in Fylde over the past year, and I wish them the very best for the future.”
