Wyre Council is reassuring the public and businesses that measures have been agreed with Booths to keep disruption to a minimum.

The work will be carried out in phases to avoid complete closure, while the site compound has been situated in Hardhorn car park to free up more spaces. In addition, the contractor has been asked to stop work in early December until the New Year so that Christmas trade is not affected.

Coun Roger Berry, Cabinet member with responsibility for parking at Wyre Council, said: “As with any building project, a certain amount of patience will be needed as Booths go about preparing for their flagship new store.”

but we are insisting that the Teanlowe car park remains open throughout to lessen the impact on parking provision and protect local businesses.

“Two thirds of the car park should be accessible at all times. We are also reminding people that there are more spaces available very nearby on Ball Street and Hardhorn Road car parks.”

Poulton Market will continue with all stalls being moved to the front of the Teanlowe Centre.
