The Bowie Experience - A Journey Of Sound And Vision was booked for the venue ahead of the star’s death earlier this month, but producers and theatre management held back the announcement out of respect.

The show was due to be announced as a special addition to the new year’s programme at the Grand’s season launch, on January 12, just two days later it was announced the iconic musician had died from cancer cancer.

Grand Theatre chief executive Ruth Eastwood said: “Many of our staff were incredibly moved by the news and we felt it right to delay the announcement.

“However, many people who had heard of our plans came forward asking that we go ahead with the show, a tribute to a star that many loved.

“The show is an incredible homage to a pioneer, who blazed a trail of musical trends and pop fashion, reinventing himself, his music and media across many decades.

“Many want the opportunity to celebrate this great star through his music.”

The Bowie Experience is being billed as ‘the most authentic tribute to the Thin White Duke and will amaze audiences, an astounding attention to detail.’

It will feature now more poignant Bowie songs as Space Oddity, Starman, Fashion, Life on Mars, China Girl, Rebel Rebel, Golden Years, Modern Life, Absolute Beginners, All the Young Dudes, Let’s Dance, Heroes, Fame and Absolute Beginners.

Tickets for the Blackpool show on Sunday, November 27, go on sale on Thursday at 10am.

Grand marketing manager Andrew Howard said: “With the huge love of Bowie and the chance to enjoy his incredibly iconic music we are expecting ticket demand to exceed our availability.

“We expect our phone lines to be busy so we recommend booking through our website or in person on the day be the best option.”
