Kate Colgan’s mother, 54-year-old Janet Colgan, was given the heartbreaking diagnosis in September, when she was told by doctors that she had just one year to live.

In an emotional video posted to social media last week, Kate, 25, from Lytham, broke down in tears as she revealed that her mum would die without funding for immunotherapy treatment.

She said: “The stomach tumour is growing quite rapidly and mum can’t eat anymore and the only option we have now is to quickly shrink the stomach tumour before it kills her.

“We’re going to run out of money soon, so please, please donate and do whatever you can. Without you she’s not going to make it and she’s come so far that the cancer is starting to calm down, but not in this particular tumour.

“It’s just one tumour that’s going to kill her.

“Please don’t give up on her.”

The video was viewed more than 48,000 times and gave a huge boost to the family’s ‘Save Janet’ fund, which has brought in £23,500 to pay for the mum-of-two’s immunotherapy treatment, which is not available on the NHS.

Kate said: “Immunotherapy is designed to teach the body how to kill the cancer cells on its own. It’s a long-term solution.

“Chemotherapy kills the cancer cells very quickly but it’s not a long-term solution to the problem.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by how generous people have been and how many supportive messages we have got.

“It really supports my mum and makes her want to fight.

“She’s quite emotional right now and crying. When she gets these messages it makes her want to keep going.”

Janet remains at the Hallwang Clinic in Germany, where she is undergoing treatment. Her fundraiser can be found at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/savejanet
