He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 costs with £24 compensation plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Rebecca Jones, prosecuting, said Lucas went to his ex’s home in the resort’s Waterloo Road on August 9 about 9pm. She saw him kick and break the bottom panel of her door.

Hugh Pond, defending, said Lucas’s ex refused to let him see his son or have his dog back.

Mr Pond said: “He was concerned about his son’s welfare and the dog’s so he went to her home.

“He says she shouted abuse at him.”
