Shoppers queued outside the Aldi store, on Poulton Road, in the town, before the store was officially re-opened by the 16th Fleetwood Scouts and store manager Carol Townley.

The extension, carried out to cope with increasing demand for a wider range of products from customers, has created an additional five jobs at the supermarket.

Carol said: “There was a great buzz down at the store and it was really great to see so many turn out for our store’s re-opening event.

“The team and I were pleased to welcome shoppers to the new layout of the store, as customers will be able to take advantage of our new product lines at affordable prices.”

The store, which first opened in 1994, has been expanded to 1125 square metres as a result of the refurbishment, and the re-opening was held at 8am on Thursday.

Opening times are 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.

The company is currently looking for additional staff for the Fleetwood store, and information on all roles and how to apply can be found online at www.aldirecruitment.co.uk
