Youths set fire to bin and pallets on Cleveleys skatepark in 'mindless act of vandalism'

Vandals reportedly set fire to a bin and pallets at the skatepark in Jubilee Gardens yesterday (April 3).

Police and fire crews rushed to the scene in North Promenade at approximately 8pm.

Shocking pictures from the scene show a bin and a number of pallets ablaze next to one of the skate ramps.

No injuries were reported, but officers have slammed the incident as a "mindless act of vandalism".

"Do you know where your children are?," said the force in a social media post.

"Once again resources from the police and LFRS were required to attend a mindless act of vandalism whereby a fire was set on the skate park at Jubilee.

"Please warn your children of the dangers this can pose."

The warning follows a previous post in which police revealed they had responded to 15 calls of teenagers throwing objects at pedestrians from rooftops in just one week.

A spokesman added: "This sort of incident is very resource intensive with the police and fire service having to attend.

"If you are a parent/guardian we would like you to speak to your children about this particular issue, with a hope that you may be able to educate them on the dangers of this type of behaviour."
