Noreen Hanson is said to have knocked the wheelchair as she snatched the bag, sending the 60-year-old woman crashing backwards to the ground, hitting her head.

The court was told the offence is alleged to have taken place as the victim was at the top of a wheelchair ramp trying to unlock her front door on Saturday.

Hanson, 47, of Ibbison Court, Blackpool, is charged with robbery.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, opposed bail for Hanson.

Defence lawyer, Robert Castle, said his client had indicated she would plead not guilty to the offence.

Hanson was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 13 by District Judge Jeff Brailsford sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
