Michael Wan's Mandarin on Clifton Street appealed for help to identify the brazen thief in the hope of having the plants returned.

They shared CCTV footage of the woman, with a black and white coat, black shoes and brown hair pulled back into a ponytail with a black scrunchie, approaching the outside of the restaurant, picking up plants and stuffing them into a Heron Foods bag.

A spokesman for the restaurant said: "It's not often we post negatives but this has really got to us. This woman has been stealing the plants from our window boxes over the past few days. She steals one per day, in broad daylight and has been doing so for a week.

"If anyone recognises her please can you message us so we can ask her for them back. Unbelievable how some people can act with everything that's going on at the moment."
