Warning after youth injures leg crashing his quad bike on Blackpool playing fields
Quad and scrambler bike riders are being warned about using their vehicles on playing fields after a Blackpool youth injured his leg after crashing into a ditch.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon after the teen was riding on playing fields off Common Edge Road and Jepson Way in South Shore, land which bike riders are forbidden from using.
PCSO Colin Hester of Blackpool Police said: “This afternoon a male youth had an accident whilst riding his quad bike on the playing fields.
“At first it was thought the youth had broken his leg after riding into a ditch.
"Fortunately the youth only suffered a minor leg injury which resulted in him being taken to hospital as a precaution.”
The incident prompter Blackpool Police issuing advice to bike riders that playing fields and parks across the resort are out of bounds for the vehicles.
PCSO Hester added: “This is an ideal time to remind those who use this area of land to ride scrambler bikes and quad bikes, that this land is not for this use as it is used for the playing of sporting activities.”
Last year police in Blackpool handed out a number of fines to quad and scrambler bike riders taking advantage of the quiet roads during the various lockdowns.
