Victim of Fleetwood knife attack identified as police launch murder investigation

A man in his 30s was knifed at an address in Laidleys Walk shortly after 8am today (June 24).
The victim, who has now been formally identified as 32-year-old Danny Wise, was rushed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with a suspected stab wound to the neck, but later died.

Hide AdA 22-year-old man from Fleetwood was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was being quizzed by murder detectives this afternoon.
Following an investigation, police now believe Mr Wise was earlier assaulted on Mowbray Place.
Det Chief Insp Gareth Willis, of Lancashire Police’s Force Major Investigation Team, said: "These are tragic and very sad circumstances and my thoughts are with Mr Wise’s family and friends at this difficult time.
"While we have made an arrest, we would encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Hide Ad"This incident has taken place in broad daylight I believe a lot of people, including residents in the Macbeth Road, Mowbray Place and Mowbray Road areas could have vital information which will assist our investigation. Please come forward if you can help."
Officers believe the two men knew each other and have confirmed they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.
A Home Office post-mortem will take place soon to establish a cause of death.
"I would like to reassure the people of Fleetwood that incidents of this nature are rare and we have a team of specially trained officers working on this investigation," Det Chief Insp Gareth Willis added.
