Uninsured driver threatened to 'cough on police' if he had coronavirus in Blackpool

A motorist who was caught driving a vehicle despite being uninsured threatened to cough on police after his car was seized.

Police seized a vehicle in Blackpool after stopping a motorist who was uninsured this morning (March 22).

The driver had travelled from London to collect a friend from prison, according to police.

As the vehicle was being seized the driver threatened police by stating he would cough on them if he had coronavirus.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Our first stop this morning. Even though the driver threatened to cough on us if he had corona virus, we will continue to do our job to keep everyone safe on and off our roads."

The driver of the vehicle was reported.

Lancashire Police added: "Driver of this car in Blackpool had travelled from London to collect a friend from prison unfortunately they weren’t insured.

"Driver reported and the car seized sec165. Long walk home."
