Two men have been charged after a huge cannabis farm was discovered near Blackpool Prom.

The cannabis farm was uncovered during a raid on a building in Wellington Road, between the Prom and Lytham Road, on Monday (March 2).

Officers found hundreds of mature plants sprawled over three floors of the building, with an estimated street value of thousands of pounds.

Two men were found in the building and arrested at the scene.

They are both charged with production of cannabis, abstracting electricity and money laundering offences and have been remanded in custody.

Sgt Phil Palmer said: "On Monday, March 2, Blackpool South neighbourhood team along with Blackpool task force executed a misuse of drugs act warrant on Wellington Road, Blackpool and discovered a large cannabis factory over 3 floors.

"The warrant was obtained as a result of intelligence from the local community and local officers.

"Proceeds from these illegal factories are known to fund other criminal enterprises including modern slavery, human trafficking, and even terrorism.
