The measures were introduced after more than 100 incidents were reported in the area in recent weeks, with tormented residents saying that some youths had "made their lives hell".

Before the dispersal order came into force last night, police warned would-be troublemakers that they faced arrest if they breached the order.

Lancashire Police said no further dispersal orders are planned for tonight, but it will continue to target those involved in anti-social and criminal behaviour in the area.
