Neighbours paid their respects to Freddie Neil yesterday as police waited on the results of a post mortem to determine how he died.

Flowers and a stuffed teddy bear were left at the door of the Rydal Avenue house, in Blackpool, after the police presence at the home was lifted.

A note left at the house read: “Baby Freddie, sleep tight little angel.”

Residents on the close-knit street were today still in shock at the sudden death of the young boy.

Two people, a 33-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and neglect after Freddie was pronounced dead at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on Boxing Day.

They have since been released on bail until June.

Paramedics, who were called to the house, alerted police who launched an investigation into the boy’s death.

Police have not commented on the nature of his injuries but it is understood he became trapped between a bed and the wall.

The police investigation is ongoing and results from the post mortem are expected in the coming days.
