Thug hit girlfriend in the face because she refused to give him a lift to Blackpool town centre

A man hit his girlfriend after she refused to drive him into Blackpool town centre.

Benjamin Harker, 26, of Pilling Crescent, Blackpool, admitted assault when he appeared before Blackpool Magistrates.

Taylor had a history of carrying out assaults some of a domestic nature prosecutor Pam Smith said.

She said that Harker wanted to be taken into Blackpool from Grange Park to get some money .

His victim refused and after forcing his way into her car hit her across the face.

A van driver witness called police.

Robert Castle,defending, said: "This is a sad case and he knows there is no justification in doing what he did."

Harker was sentenced to a two year community order with 35 rehabilitation days .

He must do 150 hours unpaid work and pay his victim £125 compensation.
