Thornton man arrested in police crackdown on illegal raves is released
A man who was arrested in connection with the organisation of an illegal rave in Blackpool has been released under investigation.
The 18-year-old from Thornton was arrested last night as police stepped up patrols across the Fylde coast with the intention of cracking down on such events.
Police officers and rangers from Wyre Council gathered at Wyre Estuary Country Park in Stanah, while other teams remain on standby across the Fylde coast.
A police spokesman said: "The event had been advertised on Instagram and when it was brought to our attention a significant policing operation was put into place.
"We are now pleased to report that the event did not go ahead. However, we hope that our response to the plans has demonstrated the serious approach Lancashire police will take to any illegal events that pose a risk to people's health and safety."
