Thieving teenager targeted Booths

A teenage girl and two male accomplices targeted a Lytham supermarket on five occasions and stole more than £700 of alcohol.

Sophie Pope, an 18-year-old student, of Harbour House, Dock Road, Lytham, pleaded guilty to five offences of theft.

She was sentenced to an eight weeks tagged curfew from 7pm to 5am and ordered to pay £255 compensation with £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Pope and two men targeted Booths, Haven Road between September 17 and October 13. They stole high value alcohol totalling £764 none of which was recovered.

Michael Woosnam, defending, said Pope, who had no previous convictions, was only 17 when she committed the crimes.

Pope had sold her share of the alcohol and spent the money on food and expenses.
