A thief returned to his old ways after being released from prison.

Robert Snow stole goods from Blackpool stores and, after selling some, he used part of the proceeds to buy ‘legal highs’.

Snow, 23, of Cavendish Road, St Annes, pleaded guilty to two offences of theft.

He was sentenced to 28 days’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, put on six months’ supervision with six months’ drug rehabilitation and ordered to pay £10 compensation with £85 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said Snow stole a DVD and a chicken wrap from Tesco on December 1.

On December 28 he took a DVD from Argos.

Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, said Snow had wanted a DVD gift for his niece. After stealing it he was worried he would be giving his niece stolen goods, so he sold it.

He then spent part of the proceeds on a box of chocolates for her and some on some legal high for him.
