Andrew D’eath, 54, burglary

A man targeted seafront hotels for a series of burglaries.

District Judge Jane Goodwin, sitting at Blackpool Magistrates court, heard Andrew D’eath, 54, of Horton Street, Blackpool, plead guilty to breaking into pool table and vending machine cash boxes.

He used a screw driver to break into the boxes and tried to cover up his actions by putting tissues over security camera lenses.

He burgled the Tiffany Hotel twice, and the New President and the Royal Seabank hotels.

He stole £150 from the Tiffany and smaller amounts from the two others, prosecutor Pam Smith said.

When he was arrested at a homeless hostel, D’eath told police he had been released from prison and was short of money.

He said in an interview : “I chose hotels rather than people’s homes.”

Steven Duffy, defending, said his client had been frank in the interview .

D’eath had 151 previous convictions and the judge was told he had targeted the same hotels before.

The judge said the matters were so serious D’eath would have to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court, which has the power to jail him for longer.

She saidthe hotels were open at the time D’eath struck and guests may have been at risk.

The defendant was remanded in custody pending his appearance at the higher court on April 1.

Louis Chapman, 19, assault

A Blackpool man has been sent for trial at Preston Crown Court, accused of causing grievous bodily harm. He is Louis Chapman, 19, of WatsonRoad.

District Judge Jane Goodwin bailed Chapman until he appears at the higher court on April 1.

Kevin O’Connor, assault and criminal damage

A Fleetwood scaffolder appeared in court charged with assaulting his partner.

Kevin O’Connor is further charged with robbing the mum-of-two’s handbag containing cash and her bankcard.

He also faces an allegation of criminal damage to a gate.

District Judge Goodwin sent him for trial at Preston Crown Court.

He was bailed subject to conditions, including not entering streets in Fleetwood where his partner and two witnesses live.

O’Connor, of Hatfield Avenue, Fleetwood, will appear at the higher court on April 1.

Laura Simpson, 39, assault and breach of bail conditions

A 39-year-old Blackpool woman has been re-bailed by Blackpool Magistrates.

She is Laura Simpson, who is currently awaiting sentence for assault at Preston Crown Court .

Simpson admitted breaching her bail by going to her former home on Munster Avenue in Blackpool.

She must live at an address in Colne, she was told.

Christian Dickson, 38, licence application

A Blackpool man successfully applied to get his driving licence back.

Christian Dickson, 38, of Everton Road, was banned for four years in 2017 following his third drink-drive offence.
