Teenager's bail condition drop

Checks showed the girl had been granted bail by the police and she should have been inside her home.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to breaching bail.

Defence lawyer, Steven Townley, asked for the girl’s bail condition of having a curfew to be removed.

Mr Townley said: “This is not a young lady who is running feral or out at 5am. She is old enough to live independently and to marry. She lives with her mother and her mother has house rules by which she has to be in by 10pm.”

Blackpool magistrates agreed to rebail the girl and said she no longer had to keep a curfew. She must still not enter the Poundland store, Bank Hey Street, and must live at her given address.

Malcolm Isherwood, prosecuting, said police were called to the report of a group of youngsters causing problems on Blackpool Promenade on January 11 just after 7.30pm.

The girl was among them and checks showed she was on bail with a condition to keep a 7.30pm to 7am curfew at her given address.

The girl had been given bail conditions by police after being charged with causing damage at Poundland and then in a separate incident accused of taking part in a public order incident.
