He was sentenced to a six month Youth Offending Team referral order and banned from the road for 12 months

Police say that two builders, who were inside the van, suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

A shocking photo released following the court case shows the crushed car by the side of the road car after it was completely destroyed in the accident.

A spokesman for Fylde Police said: "[The driver] a 17-year-old had recently just passed his test and had little driving experience.

"He went head-on with a van with two builders inside.

"Officers were called to the scene, along with ambulance colleagues.

"The driver of the Subaru was arrested and the chaps in the van taken to hospital with luckily minor injuries.

"It quickly emerged his dad didn't know his lad had swiped his keys when he was out."It is quite clear the chaps in the van suffered minor injuries because they were both wearing their seatbelts so please take note and belt up as its someone else` mistake that may cost you dearly."
