Leon Miller, who had been bailed for pre-sentence reports, left court before he could be sentenced and a warrant without bail was issued by Blackpool magistrates for his arrest.

The court heard he had walked into the Cliffs Hotel, Queens Promenade, and had breakfast in the dining room on June 13, despite not being a guest before taking the handbag which was hanging on the back of the victim’s chair.

Miller, 19, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to theft.

Miller was identified from the hotel CCTV and when apprehended he told police he had discarded the bag in a nearby wastebin from which it was recovered.
