South Fylde: From the courts 10-12-15

Danielle Ainsworth, 27, formerly of St Davids Road North, St Annes, now living at Edelstone Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to causing damage and breaching bail.

She was given an 18 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £150 court charge with £85 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Jim Mowbray, prosecuting, said a woman in a block of flats at St Davids Road North heard a crash and saw the glass panel in a vestibule door had been smashed, on December 6 at 12.30am.

When interviewed Ainsworth said she had argued with a friend and thrown an electric heater.

She was bailed by the police on the condition she did not enter the flats at St Davids Road North, but that night she had gone back again to the flats.

Ian Huggan, defending, said his client, who apologised, had intended going to her mother’s.

She did not have enough money for the fare home, so she went back to the flats because she still had a key.

• A man has made his first appearance at court accused of harassing his father.

Mark Howarth is alleged to have repeatedly visited his dad at the shop he works at in Ansdell, asking for money and calling him obscene names.

Howarth, 41, formerly of Derbe Road, St Annes, now living at Levens Grove, Blackpool, who uses to live in a tent in a Lytham couple’s garden, pleaded not guilty to harassment.

He is said to have committed the offence between November 7 and December 5 this year.

Prosecutor, Jim Mowbray, opposed an application for bail for Howarth by defence lawyer Patrick Nelligan.

Howarth was refused bail and remanded in custody towards trial on January 15 by Blackpool magistrates.

• A man accused of having weapons outside a Lytham pub was unable to attend court because he was in hospital having suffered a stroke a court was told.

Andrew Hewitt, 53, of East Cliffe, Lytham, is charged with possessing an air-rifle, a lock-knife and pocket-knife at the rear of the Station pub on August 13 this year.

Hewitt’s case was adjourned for a medical update by Blackpool magistrates

• A pensioner who is accused of making and possessing indecent photographs of children has made his first appearance at court.

Geoffrey Shoesmith, 66, of Lowrey Terrace, Lytham, faces three offences of making and one offence of possessing an indecent picture of a child.

The offences are alleged to have taken place last year in Lytham.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, asked for the case to be heard at crown court.

Defence lawyer, Steven Townley, said his client would not indicate pleas to the offences at that stage.

Shoesmith was bailed to appear at Preston Crown Court on January 6 by District Judge Rod Ross sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
