A shoplifter targeted shops twice in the same day.

Jason Phillips, 46, of Cheltenham Road, North Shore, pleaded guilty to four offences of theft.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 compensation with £50 costs plus £15 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said Phillips was seen on CCTV on Boxing Day last year at 10.30am, going into the My Local store, Dickson Road, and stealing £15 of sirloin steak.

At 12.25pm the same day Phillips returned to the store and took sirloin steak valued at £30. On April 13 at 2.30pm Phillips went into Booths, Poulton, and stole rump steak costing £24. He returned to the shop at 7pm and again stole £24 of rump steak. Outside the shop he was detained.

Phillips had a record of 36 previous offences.
