Probation office fight

A man going to an appointment with his probation officer punched another man outside the probation offices.

Philip O’Hagan, 20, of Edmonton Place, Bispham, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was sentenced to a 12- month community order with up to 20 days’ rehabilitation to be supervised by the Probation Service and fined £50 with £85 costs plus £85 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Martine Connah, prosecuting, said O’Hagan was outside the offices when he saw three men approaching the building on May 31, one of whom he was on bail not to communicate with.

O’Hagan started shouting and swearing then offered to fight. He swung three punches one of which hit the man.

O’Hagan said the other man offered to fight him and that he had been provoked. O’Hagan suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity and bipolar disorders.
