Concerns have been raised by residents living in the Heyhouses ward of St Annes about the speed of traffic on St Thomas’ Road, close to St Thomas’ School.

And issues have also been raised about parking outside the school during drop off and pick up times.

Now police are to make the area a Community Speedwatch zone.

Community Speedwatch sees officers work with volunteers to man speed cameras.

If drivers are caught speeding they are sent warning letters to their homes.

Other measures that can be taken include officers visiting homes or enforcement action.

The issues were raised at a recent PACT meeting.
