A police spokesman said on social media last night: "We have been made aware overnight of a number of vehicles that have been damaged across the Blackpool area, the majority of reports being in the Mereside area at the moment.

"As a result, there will be an increased presence in the area and officers will be conducting enquiries with local residents."
