Parents at a Blackpool school have been issued advice by police following concerns over road safety during the start and end of the school day.

It follows a survey as part of Lancashire Talking in which road safety was raised as a priority on the Marton ward and one of the areas identified was around Stanley Primary School on Wordsworth Avenue.

Last week the Blackpool neighbourhood policing team were outside the school speaking to parents and advising them on suitable areas to park to pick up their children.

PCSO Anna Morris of Blackpool Police said: “They were reminded that they must not park on zig zags and yellow lines even if they are only there for a short time.

They were also warned about blocking peoples drive ways and causing an obstruction in the road for local buses.

“Hopefully our presence has helped to alleviate some of the issues but we will continue to monitor and will attend the school again in the coming weeks.”
