Police incident results in road closures around Vicarage Lane in Blackpool

Roads around Vicarage Lane have been shut following a police incident in Blackpool.

Police have closed Vicarage Lane at the mini roundabout opposite Screwfix and the junction of Lowsway and Vicarage Lane this evening (March 2).

The Burton Road and Vicarage Lane Junction as well as the Daggers Hall Lane and Vicarage Lane junction have also been closed.

The closure follows a major fire at a business premises in Cowley Road, off Vicarage Lane at around 7.17am today.

Despite firefighters' efforts to stop the fire spreading, a neighbouring rock factory, Rainbow Candies, also caught fire.

There was no report of injuries, though there was concern about the ferocity of the blaze as sugar and glucose is highly flammable.

Lancashire Police have stated updates will follow.
