Police say an argument between the attacker and his female victim got out of hand when he threw a glass at her, which caught her on the side of the face.

Officers have identified a suspect but nobody was arrested during the incident.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “We got a call at 7.45pm on Friday saying a female had been assaulted and hit in the face with a glass.

“It appears the glass was thrown and it hit the woman in the side of the face.

“It looks like the victim and the offender have been involved in a verbal argument.

“A man has also been punched in the face. Paramedics were called after he lost consciousness.”

It is believed both assaults took place between 7.30pm and 7.45pm.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information about the incident at the bar on Friday is asked to call police on 101.
