Police chase stolen car through resort

Police in marked cars pursued a black Vauxhall Corsa which had previously been reported stolen.

The Corsa was spotted by patrol officers at around 6pm on Wednesday as it was driven along Clifton Road.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver did not stop.

Officers then decided to give chase and the car was followed onto the Peel Industrial Estate.

It eventually cam to a stop having been pursued into a dead end, the car driven onto the forecourt of a business property. The driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot but was captured soon after by police.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

He was later relased without charge. Police seized the Corsa.

Lancashire Police confirmed a man had been released without charge following the incident.
