"Two officers attended and no arrests were made. The groups apologised to each other and no further action will be taken."

The Tramway addressed false online claims that police had attended the premises in order to close it down.

A spokesman for the pub said: "We can confirm police were called yesterday following a disagreement between two sets of guests. The restaurant was not instructed to close and has continued to remain open since.

“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and are taking great care to make sure that the safety and well-being of our guests and colleagues remains at the very forefront of all of our operations. Since reopening we will continue to adhere to the robust new safety protocols we’ve implemented which are compliant with the Government guidance.

“Our team has undertaken extensive training in these protocols prior to reopening to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained at all times. These new safety measures are communicated to guests throughout the business. We urge that these are adhered to at all times and that guests follow the public health guidance set out by the government when visiting."
