Hide AdDet Insp Andy Bunn, from Lancashire Police, said: “I would encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse to come forward and speak to us.
“We will listen and we will take action, as this case shows.”
Lloyd was arrested by the detectives investigating Charlene Downes’ disappearance and murder on Saturday, November 1, 2003, but the two cases have ‘no direct link’, police added.
Nobody has ever been brought to justice for the slaying of Charlene, who was just 14 when she vanished.
A £100,000 reward remains on offer for information that leads to the conviction of her killer or killers, or the recovery of her body.
